Marissa Webb has always been a hard worker for as long as she can remember. It is certainly her toiling that has allowed her to see the greener pastures. She was ambitious when she started out at J.Crew which paved her way into becoming the head of Womenswear(Learn more) and Accessories. Her plentiful years of experience at J.Crew have lend Marissa the boost she needed for her breakthrough in the industry. She, however, had to leave this world behind, not because she hated it but because the time for her to hatch was due. In an interview, Marissa says that she felt obliged to start her own thing because it has always been her desire since she was a student at FIT. She even says that someone told her that people’s burnout rate was after 10 years. Marissa believed that she had gathered enough courage to be on her own. A fact that is yet to be proven wrong since she is always generating a buzz in the fashion world to date. While Marissa was at J.Crew, she did not take any situation that crossed her path for granted. She was quick to borrow a leaf from whoever she met. Ms. Webb admits that she has learned to be a team player. Marissa has made it a rule of the thumb to work even twice as hard as her team. Her ability to oversee over 50 employees has taught Marissa to embrace time management skills not only for herself but also for her team. Keeping tabs with the fashion calendar comes second to nothing in her life. This, she admits, is what has kept her ahead of the game all the years. Most importantly, Marissa learned that the best things come when one always puts their best feet forward. Marissa does not disagree with the fact that there is a lot of bliss dawning on you when you have your own thing. She is also not blind to the numerous challenges that cross her path every day. Marissa says that one of her biggest challenges has been, lacking the numerous support she used to get while at J.Crew. She describes how it was easier for her back then when all the financial, legal and most other procedures were not hers to worry about. With her own line, she describes how her team of six people has no option but to do everything.
Despite the port holes, Marissa’s vision does not get blurred even for a second. She is fully aware that she is going to get far but she also plans on taking one step at a time. Marissa is a realist and she does not believe in getting into very many categories, all at the same time. She explains that the fact that they got into shoes at an accessory was completely circumstantial. She once woke up to a realization that her models had no shoes to match on. This was how they started designing shoes. Nonetheless, she detests against indulging into every single category. https://www.ifchic.com/blog/349-marissa-webb. |
MarissaMarissa is delighted by the thought of her collection out in the stores. Although she admits that she has not lately been doing a lot of shopping, purchasing a Marissa Webb label when she can always excites her. It is obviously very fascinating when you are enjoying the fruit of your own labor. Click here. ArchivesCategories |
